Fructose Free BBQ Sauce

I was complaining about the high fructose corn syrup in the Longhorn BBQ sauce I bought a while back at Yoke’s. Stephanie Smith turned right around and shared this delicious recipe from Very Vegetarian.

Saute 1 medium diced onion, 2 teaspoons (I use more) minced garlic, 1 tablespoon chili powder, and 1 teaspoon dry mustard in a little oil or water for 5 minutes or until onion is soft.

Add 1.5 cups tomato ketchup (I use homemade), 1/2 cup vinegar, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1/4 cup soy sauce, 2 tablespoons mushroom soy sauce (I omit, can’t ever find it here), 2 teaspoons molasses, and 1/3 cup sugar.

Mix well and simmer 15 minutes.

Enjoy!

  1. I’m making this tonight!!!

  2. We used 1 cup ketchup for a tangier result. Will definitely be making this again, delicious. A little goes a long ways!

  3. Madness takes its toll. Please have exact change.
